Overview

When the Bud Blooms is a 2D visual novel for players who want dark corruption stories with a slow fall from innocence. The tone is heavy and explicit, not lighthearted.

Story

Yui Uchida is a quiet, obedient girl whose mother disappears without warning, leaving her alone with no one to rely on. Adrift and searching for connection, she finds a lewd magazine hidden at school, and the discovery stirs a curiosity she can't shake. As she begins exploring her own desires, the men around her — classmates, her uncle, the janitor, strangers she meets online — take notice, and each one pulls her further from the girl she used to be.

Gameplay

Play unfolds as a linear visual novel following Yui through school and everyday encounters, with choices that shape how far her corruption goes and which ending she reaches. Scenes move between dialogue, exploration of familiar settings like the school and town, and illustrated encounters with the men who take interest in her. Multiple endings track how much of herself Yui loses or holds onto along the way.

Features

  • 2D character art depicting Yui's shift from a sheltered girl to someone shaped by everyone around her
  • Multiple endings based on the choices made through her descent
  • A cast of recurring men — family, staff, classmates, strangers — each pushing the story in a different direction
  • School-setting scenes mixed with public and group encounters

Notes

The game centers on non-consensual and coercive content, including rape and humiliation themes, presented without a lighter alternate framing. Readers sensitive to these subjects should be aware before starting.

Changelog

v1.1.1

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a vending machine issue: Corrected an issue where players were able to sell items at the vending machine in the park (which should not be possible).
  • Fixed a positioning glitch: Addressed a bug where a positioning error would occur when talking to the burly man in town after completing the rooftop event while in the "One-piece dress (2 buttons unbuttoned)" state.
  • Fixed a cancellation error: Fixed an issue during the park event where it was possible to cancel a selection that was intended to be un-cancellable.
  • Adjusted NPC behavior: In the park event, NPCs previously moved randomly, which sometimes caused visual oddities. This has been changed so that NPCs now remain stationary during the event.
  • Fixed a sprite display bug: Fixed a bug where character portraits (standing sprites) would fail to appear after viewing parts of the park event in the CG Room.
  • Improved UI clarity: Added icons to the park event to make certain sections easier to understand, as they were previously difficult to follow.

v1.1.0

  • New Events
  • You can now go to the "Park" on weekends after triggering a specific event.
  • Quality of Life Updates
  • Certain events can now be skipped starting from your second playthrough.
  • Planned Improvements
  • Because a specific event in the park is difficult to understand, we plan to update it so that a heart icon appears (in a future update).

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to trigger an event from behind the vending machine late at night.
