Overview

Shelter is a furry visual novel for players who want a gay sci-fi story with a distinct sense of humor. The tone stays warm and character-driven even as things get strange.

Story

A human and a group of dog-like fantasy creatures share a home inside an enormous metal structure filled with technology that doesn't belong in their world, tucked away in a fantasy version of Siberia. As their community gets ready for a fireworks celebration, the centerpiece of the festivities turns out to be a turret powered by life-force and built for mass destruction, and the story finds a way to make that fit.

Gameplay

Play unfolds through narrated scenes and dialogue as the human protagonist spends time with the other residents in the lead-up to the celebration. Choices steer conversations and interactions with the cast, with new art and scenes unlocking as the story moves forward.

New build, containing the final unlockable dream scene, most of it being the content of the April Fools build, but with a completely changed ending and a few other things added across the game!

The final dream is available after finishing Max's route. In the same playthrough, nap at every opportunity (so during Late Morning and Mid-Afternoon). After finishing the second nap, the option "Nap just a little bit more" should be available to you. Play it for the entirety of the new content, along with the Barkest Corner.
I also started working on a super cool new PATHS feature, but it's still WiP, and I disabled it for now. I hope to show you some of it in the next build~
