• Chapter 13
• This one is quieter than the last few. Eva is planning a calm evening with Nicole — snacks, something on TV, no drama. Then Chris casually mentions that Jack is flying back today. Jack, who owns the apartment, who Eva hasn't properly seen since she was a kid. That plan for a quiet evening doesn't survive the afternoon.
• The chapter is about two men entering Eva's world at the same time, each in his own way. One is someone she has history with, even if that history is mostly childhood memories and years of distance. The other is a stranger with expensive taste who apparently got her number from Noah and is not shy about using it.
• There's a dinner. There are questions that feel more personal than they should. There's also a delivery at the door that Eva absolutely did not order.
• If you've been watching from the sidelines, this is the whole story up to this point — no paywall, no catch. And Chapter 14 lands for subscribers any minute now, so the timing won't get better than this.
• Chapter 12
• Quick note first: this update took longer than I wanted. There was a significant amount of bugfixing involved, and I didn't want to release until things were in a state I was actually okay with. I appreciate your patience more than I usually say.
• As for the chapter itself — it's the one where Noi invites Eva to a private VIP evening called Velvet Night, and Robbie texts two minutes later to say he's at the station, arriving at four. The event starts at four. Every branch in the chapter grows out of that gap. Some of you will stay with Robbie and find out what that actually means. Others will follow Eva to the bar, where the dynamic with Polly starts moving somewhere new.

• Chapter 11
• This one opens with mornings — different mornings, depending on where you left Eva last time. Some of you are waking up the day after the theater with Brian, still not quite ready to name whatever that was. Others are somewhere in the hazy aftermath of a late night with Chris. And some are still sitting with the very particular discomfort of a lesson with Mark that went somewhere other than expected.
• But whatever morning Eva wakes into, the same thing happens across every route: Nicole ends up working at the bar. Not by any real plan — more through Polly's gravitational pull, a trainee who didn't show up again, and Nicole saying yes before she thought it through. Watching those two navigate a shift together is one of my favorite things I've written. Polly treats the world like her personal stage. Nicole tries very hard to look composed and fails beautifully.
