Overview
What Was Taken is a fantasy visual novel for players who want a slower coming-of-age story with romance woven through it. The tone leans earnest, with humor easing the heavier moments.
Story
Raised in the border village of Edgebrook, the protagonist always believed he was ordinary. When secrets about his birth come to light, he leaves home to find answers in a kingdom shaped by ambition and hidden power. The road ahead brings hardship, rivalries, and bonds that test who he becomes, all tied to the truth of his bloodline and the legacy someone once took from him.
Gameplay
Played from a first-person male perspective, the game moves through narrated chapters and dialogue choices that shape relationships and how the protagonist's journey unfolds. Conversations and decisions steer which characters grow closer to him, with romantic and intimate scenes developing as trust builds. Progress is linear chapter to chapter, following his path rather than an open sandbox.
