The Tyrant

The Tyrant is a choice-driven visual novel for players who want a dark, character-focused story with control over their own path. The tone stays serious and rough rather than lighthearted.

Story

After a year abroad as an exchange student, the player returns home to finish school and find work, only to find his family changed for the worse. His mother, step-dad, and two sisters are all still there, but something in the household has shifted, and the reasons why are tied to a figure known as the Tyrant. Rivals circle the women in his life, and the player has to decide how far he's willing to go to protect or exploit what's left of his family.

Gameplay

Played like a dating sim layered over a sandbox structure, the game lets the player choose who to pursue and how: a slow, honest romance, a manipulative one built on leverage and money, or no involvement with certain characters at all. Choices decide whether relationships with family members happen, whether the player pursues outside girlfriends instead, and how he handles rivals working against him. Nearly all of the darker content can be avoided depending on the choices made, so the tone of each playthrough is shaped by the player rather than fixed in advance.
