The Call of Darkness

The Call of Darkness is an animated sci-fi adventure for players who like cosmic horror mixed with dating sim elements. The tone shifts between humor, dread, and romance without settling fully into any one of them.

Story

Humanity has spread across a dozen worlds and finally found peace after a long cycle of war. A veteran captain, newly given command of his own ship and crew, is chosen by an ancient, merciless power from beyond known reality to prepare humanity for what is coming. As Lovecraftian forces stir in the dark, he must decide how far he's willing to go, and what he's willing to enjoy along the way, in service of a cause that calls compassion a weakness.

Gameplay

Players guide the captain through command decisions, crew relationships, and encounters with forces that don't play by human rules. Scenes are told through 3D animated visuals, mixing dialogue-driven story beats with adult content that grows out of the crew's dynamic and the captain's standing with the entity guiding him. Choices lean toward tone and allegiance rather than open-world exploration, keeping the focus on the ship's crew and the widening cosmic threat.
