Shrift 2 is a 2D adventure for players drawn to dark fantasy settings with monster girls and no easy answers. The tone stays serious and unsentimental throughout.

Story

Set more than a decade before the events of the first Shrift, the world has been upended by the appearance of demons, forcing every religious sect to merge into a single body called the Church. The protagonist, a young man within that organization, is offered several paths that promise "rescue" from his circumstances. None of them lead to a happy ending — the player's task is to find whichever conclusion counts as relief instead.

Gameplay

Progress moves through turn-based combat and story-driven choices as the protagonist encounters the demons and monster girls tied to his search for an ending. Decisions made along the way steer which of the game's several endings the player reaches, with no single path offering a clean resolution.
