Room 801

Story

Hiyori Yasaka, a rookie office worker exhausted from a brutal job, runs into an evil spirit on a late-night walk to get food. She wakes up back at her own door, unsure if it was real, only for a stranger to leave her a cryptic warning: check her room for anything wrong, and either stay or head for the elevator. Hiyori chooses to follow the instructions, pulled into whatever is haunting the building.

Gameplay

Play centers on reading the environment and reacting to warning signs floor by floor, deciding whether to retreat to the room or push toward the elevator based on what looks out of place. Wrong calls lead Hiyori into the grasp of monstrous and spectral threats, triggering the game's animated encounter scenes. The loop rewards careful observation over fast reflexes, with each round raising the stakes of what "normal" looks like.
