Overview

Hidden Badge is a 2D animated visual novel for players who want crime-drama tension mixed with adult sandbox exploration. The tone stays serious and moody, favoring intrigue over comedy.

Story

Ryoji, a disgraced former Public Security Bureau agent, returns to the criminal underworld to clear his name after his partner's death is pinned on him. Working alongside his former classmate Rinn, he traces a conspiracy that links street-level gangs to corrupt officials in the PSB's upper ranks. As the investigation widens, Rinn's sister Yaoyin gets pulled into danger, and Ryoji's old friend Kaiza inserts himself into their lives in ways that blur the line between ally and threat.

Gameplay

Players guide Ryoji through a sandbox structure, moving between locations to advance the investigation, build relationships, and uncover clues tied to the Scorpion gang and PSB corruption. Turn-based combat encounters break up the exploration, and story progress unlocks new areas, characters, and personal routes as the plot develops day by day.

This update adds two more days of the main story and officially begins Takiyo's romance route.
I originally planned to finish the Love Route in this update as well, but while testing I found several branching issues. Because of that, the next update will focus on fixing bugs related to the Love Route instead of advancing the story timeline. If everything goes as planned, it will also include a new Love Route CG.
I'm also not very satisfied with the current combat system. Right now, battles mostly consist of both sides trading hits until someone wins, which isn't very engaging. The next update will address the known combat issues and improve the overall battle flow.
One more small addition: Love Route CGs will not appear in the chatroom. (I don't think the protagonist is the type of guy who would upload photos with his girlfriend to an adult forum.) Because of this, I'll be adding a Gallery feature so you can review unlocked CGs without relying on the chatroom.
Known Issues
Chatroom videos may occasionally become unclickable. Opening and closing the pause menu usually fixes the issue.
Mouse movement on the map still feels a bit awkward.
Saving may occasionally fail. Please check whether the save slot has actually updated.
Some combat features required to distinguish the Love Route are still missing, so the Love Route remains temporarily locked.
The animation didn't make it in this time. It'll be added in a future update.
